THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Our application should take a total of ~30 minutes to complete and includes the following sections:

The core component of the application is two, short-response questions.

There are no right answers to these questions. We want to get to know you and give you the opportunity to showcase your unique personality.
Don't say what you think we want you to say. Tell us your authentic story!
The sweet spot of response length is 150 - 250 words to compellingly convey your story.

You may submit a video for ONE of your two responses. Neither videos nor written responses are weighted more highly than the other.
You may stop and start your application as long as you use the same device, on the same browser. We recommend not using a private browsing window.

QUESTION 1: Why do you want to participate in camp this summer? How will you use your new coding superpower?

QUESTION 2: You will have the choice between the following questions.

Think of anything in your life that you would change (an object, website, organization, sky’s the limit!). What is it, how would you redesign it, and why?

Tell us about a group or community you belong to. What makes this group or community special to who you are? This could include personal interests, cultural connections, social circles- and beyond.

We look for scholars who exhibit the following qualities so make sure these shine in your responses:

CURIOUS & CREATIVE:

We seek scholars who will find innovative and out-of-the-box solutions to problems. Creative applicants will bring unique perspectives and experiences to camps that may push community members to think innovatively about how to use their coding superpowers.

COMMUNITY-MINDED:

We seek scholars who are team players, who are eager to join an uplifting and empowering community in STEAM. Community-minded scholars will demonstrate a desire to help others both in the KWK camps, and to engage in the broader KWK community and in their own communities at large.

PASSIONATE & MOTIVATED:

We seek scholars who are deeply passionate. We acknowledge that this looks different for everyone, but we believe that leaders will join our community with the confidence to go after what they believe is right and to continue to use their voices to pursue their passions.

The application is made up of two short-response questions. You have the option to answer in writing, or by video. In these questions, we're looking for indivduals that represent creativity, community-mindedness, and passion.

Our Guidelines

We recommend keeping your written responses between 100 - 250 words. This is the sweet-spot in telling your story in a compelling way!

Your Story

There are no right answers to these questions! They are an opportunity for you to show us who you are, and to show off your incredible personality. When answering the questions, don't think of what we want you to say, say what speaks to you, and tell us your story!!
